Laws of Entanglement

Quantum Physics Example

Recently I was reading some fascinating things about science. One theory in particular is Quantum Mechanics, or Laws of Entanglement. Here’s it’s definition:

A phenomenon in quantum physics that describes how two or more particles can become connected even when separated by vast distances.

Spooky stuff, as Albert Einstein put it, but still fascinating to read about. However, a lot of the areas of quantum mechanics can be found in how electrons, and protons relate, or even how our phones, LED lights, and computers can function for such large tasks even when they are so small.

But I bet you didn’t know that this recent theory and it’s examples in physics also have a spiritual perspective to look at? It does, and it goes like this: God, and man, who are separated by vast amounts of space, and time can actually become entangled to where when man comes to God he becomes entangled in His orbit. Now, I do not want to diminish God wanting his creation with him and providing a way through His coming in the flesh. However, it is mind boggling to think that God has made a law in nature that shows the power of one object’s attraction to another and the relationship they can have when in close harmony, or attraction; regardless of the distance between them they will work in tandem. Again, I’m not minimizing God, simply in awe at the beautiful examples in creation that He gives that point to a Creator and His desire to have us worship and know Him.

I say all this to lead into what this week’s blog is about: Creation testifying of God. You see whether it’s something as hard-to-grasp and vast as quantum mechanics or simple things like the water cycle and evaporation; all point to a design. Something beyond sheer accident or chaos, something remarkably created and held in place by an all-powerful and holy God. You see Scripture is very plain that sometimes we miss it’s deeper meanings. We read over verses and will never grasp the meaning because we are to rushed, or busy. Let’s take a look at James 1:17 for example. It plainly says that “every good gift..” comes from God. Who (in the Greek wording) doesn’t change, or turn away or doubleminded. Every gift? That Greek word is pas, which means absolutely, or whole or thoroughly. So does that mean the gift of sunlight? A thunderstorm? Maybe even the snow? The laws of nature? YES! YES AND YES! Here’s another verse in Jeremiah 51:15 that explains it even more: “He hath made the earth by his power, he hath established the world by his wisdom, and hath stretched out the heaven by his understanding.” The Hebrew wording there portrays the picture that God has created all things, and maintains it. That His thought and power brought this all about. This is called the Law of Casuality; meaning if an organized, and comprehensive system of interconnectivity is shown than there must be an intelligent and organized designer.

So why do Christians shy away from the sciences? Because we are scared to explain what we might not know? Do we not realize that the very laws of nature that science has discovered are mentioned in the Bible(Genesis 1:1 is a good example of space, time, and matter which then make up the composition of other natural laws, like thermodynamics)? Or is it we think “well, thats where secular athiests have control and we avoid that.”?

Whatever the reason, we need to be bold in our engagement with others. Don’t be afraid to meet people where they are at and discuss even the concepts of science and bring that back to scripture and show them the God of the universe in the laws that are important in science and physics. I don’t understand all the sciences, or ever will, but it is something that as Christians we need to be willing or maybe even excited to learn about since God has put them into motion. He wants us to learn it and see His handiwork in nature and then draw closer to Him. I find it interesting that the Apostle Paul drew on some sciences when conversing with the Stoics and Epicureans at the Aeropagus in Athens. He also uses nature twice as examples of God’s order. Once in Romans 1:20 and next in 1 Corinthians 11:14. Romans is showing us that we can learn about God through His world. So Christians, let’s not be afraid to learn the sciences found in Scripture. To then make the application to share these truths to the world; Show them the God of Creation wants a relationship with them. Just like quantum entanglement, let’s get that close to God, and share in His likeness that the world can clearly see His influence in our lives. Let’s yield our bodies as instruments of righteousness to Him as we draw closer and closer to Him!

So for a little exercise, lets look at some of the verses that talk of the sciences in Scripture. See if you can find more! So keep digging in God’s Word and use it to grow in your understanding of Him and who he wants us to be! Jeremiah 31:35 (ocean currents and sun moon and star), Colossians 1:17 (Christ holds all things together, and was before creation), Job 26:8(water cycles and clouds), Job 26:7 speaks to gravity, Isaiah 40:22 shows God created a globe, or round earth, and it’s atmosphere. Job 26 also talks of the circumference of the earth and dusk and dawn (v. 10), shores and water levels are set by God (Psalms 104:9), and finally Isaiah 51:13 makes a sober pronouncement on the Children of Israel about the maker of all creation. Inferring a universal, unchanging truth that the triune God is the creator and sustainer of all creation.

So let’s get studying! And remember the old hymn “How Great Thou Art” as we go on in our journey with Christ. “…Then sings my soul, my Savior God to thee; How great thou art, how great thou art!”
